What is a Blue Point Ragdoll Kitten or Blue Ragdoll Kitten?

There are so many beautiful Ragdoll kittens… it’s hard to decide. Here is a guide to help you understand about blue Ragdoll kittens and patterns and to decide if a blue Ragdoll kitten is right for you.

What is a Blue Ragoll Kitten?

It visually looks like varying shades of gray, but it is called blue. A blue point Ragdoll kitten has cool shades of white across their bodies, merging into points of deep gray-blue color. Their tummies and chests should be lighter than the rest of their body, sometimes almost white. Their paw pads and nose leather are slate gray.

What do Points mean?

Point patterns are the most well-known coloration in Ragdolls. Ragdolls possess a lighter body color with darker shades on their extremities or points, including their ears, paws, tail, and face. The contrast between the body and the points creates an alluring visual effect. The body color can vary from an even smoky light to medium brown, that gets darker with age. There may be some gradually shading into a lighter color on the belly and chest.

What are Patterns of a Blue Ragdoll Kitten?

The color patterns of blue Ragdoll kittens are point, bicolor and mitted.

Bicolor means two colors. The blue bicolor Ragdoll kittens have a white inverted V on the face with a pink nose. They have white legs, a white underbelly and the second color is on the ears, tail, nose and a paler color in a “saddle like pattern” on their back.

Mitted Ragdolls have the same points as blue point Ragdoll kittens but their legs have white “mitts” on the front feet (like “socks”) and white boots on the back legs. The chin should be white and there should be a white belly stripe. Mitted kittens could have a blaze (a white spot on the face).

Ragdoll kittens are born lighter colored and they acquire their coloring as they age. Some color starts to show within the first week or two. They get their final color by the age of 3 to 4 years.
