History of the Ragdoll Cat
“He likes to supervise me shoveling!” says his mom Michaela B. Wiseacres Bruno, is a gorgeous seal point Ragdoll kitten in Norwell, Massachusetts.
The Ragdoll breed began in California in the 1960s with a breeder named Ann Baker. Her goal was to create a cat that combined beauty, grace, and a loving, calm temperament. Starting with a white domestic long-haired cat named Josephine, she developed the first kittens that would become today’s Ragdolls.
Since then, the breed has grown in popularity worldwide. The Cat Fanciers’ Association officially recognized the Ragdoll in 1993, and it remains one of the top-ranked breeds year after year.

Ragdolls are relatively easy to care for, but they do appreciate your time and attention.
Grooming: Brush your Ragdoll two to three times per week to keep their silky coat tangle-free and shiny. Regular brushing also helps strengthen your bond and reduce shedding.
Exercise & Play: Although Ragdolls are calm, they enjoy playtime. Feather wands, puzzle toys, and short fetch sessions keep them active and mentally stimulated.
Health: Ragdolls can live up to 17 years with proper care. Like many large breeds, they may be prone to heart or urinary issues, so regular vet visits and a healthy diet are essential. Keep an eye on their weight — their fluffy coats can easily hide extra pounds!
Diet: Provide a balanced, high-quality diet appropriate for your cat’s age and activity level. Wet food can help with hydration, and treats should make up no more than 10% of their daily calories.
Lynx Point: Subtle tabby markings overlaying colorpoint features
Tortie Point: A mix of cream, black, and orange in the points
