Wiseacres Ragdolls is a TICA Outstanding Cattery!

Wiseacres Ragdolls has been certified as a TICA Outstanding Cattery! What is it? Why is this important when selecting a Ragdoll kitten breeder, especially online from another state?

TICA, or also referred to as The International Cat Association, instituted the Cattery Evaluation Program and the Outstanding Cattery Code of Ethics as requirements for achieving the TICA Outstanding Cattery certificate. The goal of this certificate is to provide education, information, and guidance to breeders to ensure we are implementing the best possible cattery practices.

TICA Cattery Inspection

Our cattery was inspected in person by a licensed small animal veterinarian. The veterinarian makes sure to place emphasis on the overall impression of health and well-being of the cats in the cattery during the inspection and decision-making process. It is not allowable to experience the stale odor of cats permeating our residence or area used for the cattery. The veterinarian analyzes this as well as care, nutrition and cleanliness of food, water provided.

TICA Outstanding Cattery Certificate

We are encouraged to use the Cattery Evaluation Form as a guide for our self-evaluation of our cattery. This information provided by TICA keeps us up to date on all health standards and practices that will help our cattery use the best management techniques possible. When the veterinarian inspects our cattery, he assigns a score to our cattery and based on the rating he assigns to our cattery, we may be sent a TICA outstanding Cattery Certificate. Why is it important to be a member of TICA?

Wiseacres Ragdolls is a proud member of TICA. What is TICA and why is this important when you are selecting a Ragdoll kitten breeder?

TICA is the world’s largest genetic registry of pedigreed cats, and the world’s largest registry of household pets. TICA is also the only registry in the cat fancy and dog fancy that continues to have steady growth in our number of registrations around the world, and it continues to grow in the number of members, clients and catteries on every continent. TICA recognizes more new breeds than other cat fancy Association.  We are a member of TICA because it is in our opinion the best way of preserving both genetic diversity and pure strains of individual cat types.

TICA’s Mission

  • To encourage our members to be caring, knowledgeable owners and breeders of cats; and to work together to promote the preservation of pedigreed cats plus the health and welfare of all domestic cats.
  • To have the most accurate and comprehensive certified pedigree registry in the world.
  • To provide licensed cat shows which promote both pedigreed and non-pedigreed cats in a professional manner, and which are both enjoyable and educational for exhibitors, judges, and the visiting public.
  • To encourage our members to take an active role in the community, to foster knowledgeable voluntary spay/neuter awareness through public education, to become active in voluntary service at local animal shelters or outreach programs for schools and/or senior or disabled citizens, and to become involved in citizen advisory groups to foster knowledgeable legislation regarding the health and welfare of cats.
  • To promote friendly relations between cat lovers and breeders in this country and other countries around the world.
  • To disseminate science-based information to cat lovers, breeders, owners, exhibitors, and the general public concerning breeding, exhibition, improvement of breeds, the care and welfare of all cats; and to provide materials and information regarding feline issues of regional or national importance.
  • To support EveryCat Feline Foundation, a Winn Legacy foundation to encourage research on feline health issues, and to provide readily available lists of resource materials on health issues to the cat lovers community worldwide.

TICA’s Objectives

  • The registration of the pedigrees of all breeds of felines and catteries who adhere to TICA’s specific criteria.
  • The promulgation of rules governing the management of the Association and cat shows licensed by the Association;
  • The licensing of cat shows held under the auspices of the Association.
  • The establishment of comprehensive Standards for all breeds of domesticated cats.
  • The honoring of outstanding felines, their owners and breeders for their accomplishments.
  • The dissemination of valuable information to promote the knowledge and interest of cat owner’s community, breeders, exhibitors, and the general public concerning the breeding, exhibition and improvement of breeds, and the care and welfare of all cats; and,
